Accessibility Statement
Last updated:
1. Our commitment
GenerateQuick is committed to making generatequick.com accessible to everyone, regardless of disability, assistive technology, or how they choose to browse the web. We believe that access to free, useful tools should not be a barrier based on how someone accesses the internet.
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, the internationally recognised standard for web accessibility. WCAG 2.1 AA is also the standard referenced by the Equality Act 2010, which requires service providers to make reasonable adjustments so that disabled people can access their services.
2. Technical specification
GenerateQuick relies on the following technologies for conformance:
- HTML5
- CSS (including Tailwind CSS utility classes)
- JavaScript (all tool logic runs client-side)
- SVG (for icons and tool thumbnail images)
3. What we have done
We have taken the following steps to improve accessibility across the Site:
- Semantic HTML: We use appropriate heading levels (
h1–h3), landmark elements (nav, main, footer), and list elements to provide meaningful document structure for screen readers. - ARIA labels: Interactive elements such as navigation menus, search inputs, filter buttons, and form controls include descriptive
aria-label,aria-expanded, andaria-controlsattributes. - Colour contrast: Text and interactive elements are designed to meet a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 against their backgrounds, in accordance with WCAG 2.1 Success Criterion 1.4.3.
- Keyboard navigation: The navigation bar, tool cards, filter tabs, and form fields are all reachable and operable using a keyboard alone.
- Focus indicators: Visible focus styles are applied to interactive elements so keyboard users can see which element is currently focused.
- Decorative images: Decorative SVG tool thumbnails use
aria-hidden="true"and emptyaltattributes so screen readers skip them. - Reduced motion: Our scroll reveal animations respect the
prefers-reduced-motionmedia query. Users who have enabled reduced motion in their operating system will not see animations. - Responsive design: The Site is fully responsive and usable on mobile, tablet, and desktop devices at any viewport width.
- Form labels: All form fields, including our contact form and tool inputs, have associated visible labels or screen-reader-only labels using the
sr-onlyclass. - Error messages: Form validation messages are presented in text, not colour alone.
4. Known limitations
While we strive for full WCAG 2.1 AA conformance, we are aware of the following known limitations and are working to address them:
- Complex tool interfaces: Some tools (such as the Invoice Generator and PDF Merger) have complex interactive interfaces involving drag-and-drop functionality. Drag-and-drop actions currently have limited keyboard alternatives in some areas. We are working to ensure all file input operations are fully operable via keyboard.
- Citation generator output: The citation output areas in our APA and MLA generators use styled containers. Whilst the text content is accessible, we are reviewing how to best communicate the formatted output structure to screen reader users.
- Third-party script: The Barcode Generator uses a JavaScript library loaded from the jsDelivr CDN. We have no control over the accessibility of that library's generated output. The tool canvas output is supplemented by a download button that is fully keyboard accessible.
-
Meme Generator canvas: The meme preview is rendered on an HTML5
<canvas>element. Canvas content is not natively accessible to screen readers. The final meme can be downloaded as a PNG, and all form controls (text inputs, buttons) are fully keyboard accessible. Draggable text pins currently have limited keyboard support; we are working to provide a positional input alternative.
5. What we are doing to improve
We are committed to continually improving accessibility on the Site. Our ongoing work includes:
- Auditing each tool page against WCAG 2.1 AA on a rolling basis.
- Providing keyboard alternatives for all drag-and-drop interactions.
- Testing with screen readers including NVDA and VoiceOver.
- Addressing any issues reported by users promptly.
6. Feedback and contact
We welcome feedback on the accessibility of GenerateQuick. If you experience any barriers accessing any part of the Site, or if you need information in an alternative format, please contact us via our contact form.
We aim to acknowledge accessibility feedback within 5 working days and to resolve or provide a workaround for reported issues within 20 working days where technically feasible.
7. Enforcement
If you are not satisfied with our response to an accessibility concern, you may contact the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC), which is responsible for enforcing the Equality Act 2010 in England, Scotland, and Wales.
